Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Issary desktop application and the issary.com website (together, the "Service"). By downloading, installing, or using Issary, or by creating an Issary account, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. What Issary is

Issary is a desktop email client for Windows, macOS, and Linux that connects to any IMAP/SMTP email account you provide, and adds AI-assisted writing, summarization, and search on top. It is not a hosted webmail service and does not provide email accounts itself.

3. Accounts, plans, and billing

Some features require an Issary account. Issary offers a Free plan and paid subscription plans (currently "Pro" and "Unlimited") as described on our Pricing page. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or yearly) through our payment processor, Stripe, until cancelled. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time from issary.com/billing. Fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law.

On the Unlimited plan, you connect your own AI provider API key and are solely responsible for that provider's fees, terms, and usage limits — Issary does not bill you for AI usage on that plan.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Issary to:

• Send spam, malware, or unlawful content;
• Violate the rights of others, including privacy or intellectual property rights;
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service;
• Use the Service in a way that violates applicable law.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.

5. AI features

On the Free and Pro plans, AI requests (drafting, rewriting, summarizing) are processed by a managed AI provider on Issary's behalf, subject to reasonable, undisclosed usage limits designed to comfortably support normal use. On the Unlimited plan, AI requests are sent directly from your device to the AI provider you configure — Issary is not a party to that processing. AI-generated content may be inaccurate. You're responsible for reviewing anything Issary drafts, rewrites, or summarizes before you rely on it or send it.

6. Intellectual property

Issary and its branding are owned by us. You keep all rights to your own email content. We claim no ownership over your emails or the content you send or receive through the app.

7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including data loss, missed emails, or reliance on AI-generated content, except where such liability cannot be excluded under applicable law (including mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction).

8. Termination

You may stop using Issary and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service for violations of these Terms or for extended non-payment on a paid plan, with notice where reasonably possible.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time as the Service evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and material changes will be communicated by email where appropriate.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your country of residence if you are a consumer in the EU/EEA.
